Established in 1991, Peter Ellsmore & Associates is an Engineering Design Service Company specializing in Mechanical, Structural, Civil and Electrical Engineering and Drafting.
Enhanced by our modern office environment located in the Wollongong CBD, we conduct our business to serve our clients efficiently and effectively.
PEA began as a Mechanical Engineering Design Consultancy with a small team of draftspersons. Over the years the work diversified to cover industries such as open cut mining, quarrying, sawmilling, construction and steel making. In recent years work has involved less engineering design and more drafting. In November 2002, the company commenced a contract to provide all drafting services associated with BlueScope's Port Kembla Plant. Since the commencement of the contract, the provision of Engineering Services has been added to the drafting content.
PEA has also been working closely with FMG on their WA Christmas Creek site, providing drafting and design support.
Peter Ellsmore
Managing Director
Having graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering from Wollongong University in 1986, Peter founded PEA in 1992.
He completed an apprenticeship in Fitting and Machining in Moss Vale and, whilst continuing to study, worked as a Detail Draftsperson and a Design Draftsperson, prior to moving into a role as Mechanical Design Engineer at Kembla Coal and Coke, and then at BHP Engineering.
Peter's experience of his craft through all levels of the working structure is evident in his ability to manage large projects, providing carefully selected, highly trained staff to work with the client.
Peter lives in Bundanoon with his wife and has three grown up children and three grandchildren.
Paul Van Ryn
Operations Manager
Paul received his Diplomas in both Mechanical and Structural Engineering from Wollongong TAFE.
His expertise in managing multiple design tasks by co-ordinating designers, engineers and suppliers, makes Paul a valuable asset to the design requirements of any project.
Mainly working with Bluescope, from green field sites through to commissioning, Paul's experience across multiple disciplines within his field ensures that our clients receive a superior management service at all times.
Peter Weir
Discipline Leader in Mechanical Drafting
Peter studied for his Mechanical Engineering Certificate at North Sydney Technical College, graduating in 1985.
In subsequent years he provided his mechanical design drafting services to major Sydney and Wollongong companies including, GEC Projects, BHP / BSL, ANSTO, and Hatch Associates.
During the last 10 years at PEA, he has been responsible for heading up the Mechanical Team from the Coombe Street Office, providing mechanical drafting support services for all areas of the Port Kembla BSL site, and for other clients including, Boral and Omya in the Southern Highlands.
Greg Oliver
IT Manager
From a Trade background, Greg moved to a Drafting role while completing an Associate Diploma in Electrical Engineering and Certificate in Information Technology at Wollongong TAFE
Now with more than 20 years’ experience in IT support, he has a broad knowledge of Hardware and Software and is responsible for the overall IT operation within all PEA offices and client remote locations.
Yannis Zaranis
Senior Structural Design Engineer
Yannis obtained his Mechanical Engineering Diploma from the Collage of Athens before coming to Australia and studying for his Bachelor Degree (Civil) at the Queensland University of Technology.
Yannis brings a wealth of mechanical and structural design expertise using Space Gass and ANSYS FEA, as well as his drafting experience with AutoCad and Inventor, to the PEA team.
He has recently been heavily involved in BSL's Project Edge at Springhill as well as undertaking projects for Boral, Coastwide, All-Ways Cranes and Morgan Cement.
