3D model of a conveyor transfer house repair using ProSteel and AutoCAD
PEA not only uses ProSteel for new projects, but it is also a very powerful tool to complete designs for repair. A recent example was the remediation work for a conveyor transfer house. Due to the aggressive environment, the entire floor beams were considerably corroded and required urgent replacement. In consultation with the client, PEA decided to replace all the floor beams whilst trying to support existing loads. With the use of a Surveyor and 3D modelling, we first accurately drafted the existing structure. We then replaced old beams with new beams within the model taking into consideration the propping that was required on-site. After successfully adding new connection details ensuring minimum site work, ProSteel produced the 2D set of drawings that were issued to the contractor. The end result was all new work fitted within the existing structure perfectly without the need of any further modifications saving the client a considerable amount of money. It is pleasing when the fabricator comments it’s the first job he has seen go together without any additional oxy cutting on site – all because of PEA’s experienced operators and ProSteel
